Con lo pseudonimo di "Skeeter Davis" divenne abbastanza famosa come cantante country che finì per prediligere lo stile "ibrido", ovvero l'incrocio con il pop.
Aveva iniziato da ragazzina cantando con The Davis Sisters alla fine degli Anni Quaranta e il clou della sua carriera fu proprio questa canzone, "The End Of The World", nel 1963.
